Here's Your Chance, America

Things are about to get interesting, my friends. I don't know if the world can get any crazier...I expect it could, but last week I experienced such a long-awaited glimpse of hope that I couldn't imagine writing about anything else but this today.

Did you see the footage last Friday? Did you listen to the address - I mean, really listen? I hardly consider myself a political person, but when a well-known, influential leader stands in front of our nation, in front of the whole world really, and starts speaking my language, starts saying such salient things that few others with so much to lose would ever risk saying, a whole different side of me emerges. The feisty side. I want to jump off the sidelines, pump my fists in the air, and celebrate the message. Finally! Someone who is far from perfect, as we all are, but who has a passion for issues that really matter and the guts to stand up for what is socially prohibited but nonetheless true...

Health.

Freedom.

Safety.

Access to truth.

Integrity.

A promising future for our children.

This is what I want for America. This is what I want for my three kids and grandkids. And I haven't seen or heard of anyone else who is so well-versed in this area, and who displays so genuinely a heartfelt desire and track record of commitment to bring about positive change for our children. They deserve so much better than we have been giving them.

If we want health - true health - we need to stop looking to bottles, potions, lotions, and doctors for cures, and instead start looking at ourselves intently face-to-face in the mirror. Friends, we are eating ourselves to death. Our broken "sick-care" system has not the first clue how to get us out of this mess. If you're putting your faith in more drugs and more vaccines, I don't know what else to tell you at this point. Our kids know how to level up on their favorite gaming system, but have no idea how to cook a nutritious meal or get to bed at a reasonable hour. We give them sugar, white flour, and chemicals to eat and then wonder why they are so sick, fat, and depressed. You cannot inject health.

If we want freedom - from hostile nations near and far - we had better start equipping ourselves for action, getting strong and fit, mentally sound and sober, so that we can actually defend that freedom. Our military is becoming an object of ridicule and the butt of jokes. It's sickening. No wonder our kids feel so insecure. Who is defending us?

If we want safety, let's stop poisoning our children with crap food, contaminated water, and all manner of depravity and wickedness glorified on our screens. Stop instilling in them a spirit of fear and anxiety, but instead a spirit of justice, strength, and wisdom.

If we want access to truth, let's be truth-speakers ourselves. I tell my children often that there are few things I hate more than willful deception. Can we please just stop lying to one another? It scares me sometimes how easily and thoughtlessly people conceal the truth.

If we want leaders with integrity, maybe it's time we start leading ourselves and our families that very same way. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Let your yes be yes, and your no be no. Commit. Stand by your word. Speak and act with honesty. Be trustworthy and dependable people. Live in alignment, to the extent that you are able, with what you say you believe.

If we want a promising future for our children, let's effectively address the heartache they are facing - not with more pharmaceuticals or therapy or money or technology (all of which have their place of course) - but with a return to the simple and true things in life: a strong committed family unit with a mom and a dad who love Jesus and one another, a deep and abiding faith in the one true God, who is the giver of life and the very breath in our lungs, and a true purpose and motivation in living - not to accumulate more stuff, not to climb the proverbial ladder, not to be endlessly entertained, and not to amass more social media likes and follows. But to develop into responsible, confident, generous, insightful, and compassionate people who recognize their God-given gifts and earnestly desire to contribute meaningfully to our society and future generations.

Vote for whomever you want to vote for of course. But please don't miss this chance to peel back the scales from your eyes and pull the cotton from your ears so that you can see and hear the truth. Covid was a missed opportunity for so many. Here's your second chance, America.

Get smart.

Make change.

Be well.
